Evansville Basketball Player Jordan Scott Dies in Car Crash at 21

Evansville University women’s basketball player Jordan Scott died in a traffic crash on June 6, according to reports by the Indianapolis Star. She was a point guard who recently transferred to Evansville to play alongside her younger sister. Jordan Scott established herself as a standout point guard during her prep career at Castle High School. According to high school records, she averaged double-digit scoring in each of her final three seasons and earned selection to the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference First Team twice. Following high school, Scott competed during the 2025/26 season at Wabash Valley College. She started 26 of 27 games played, averaging 12.5 points per contest while leading the team with 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Jordan Scott transferred to Evansville University in June to begin a new chapter in her collegiate career. Her younger sister, Jaden Scott, also joined the Evansville women’s basketball program this summer, setting up a planned reunion on the same collegiate court. Evansville head coach Ben Wierzba expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating that although the newly assembled team had limited time together, the players had quickly bonded into a family. “Jordan was an integral part of that family. Her presence, character, and energy made a profound impact on all of us. Especially thinking of her family and Jaden, our hearts are broken,” Wierzba said, adding that she will forever remain part of the program.

Community Tributes from Evansville and Castle High School

Tributes poured in from athletic administrators and former coaches following the crash. Castle High School released a statement describing Scott as a bright presence on and off the court whose work ethic, leadership, and competitiveness inspired teammates and coaches. Evansville University Director of Athletics Ziggy Siegfried shared similar sentiments, stating that the athletics department was in deep shock and mourning for the player affectionately embraced by the Purple Aces family, while extending condolences to Jaden Scott and the entire family.
