According to Rolling Stone, Morris stated that his medical situation prevents him from leaving the country for extended periods. A recent short trip to New York for an Ian Curtis lyrics exhibition lasted only two days and "ended in disaster."

When asked by Rolling Stone if he might eventually rejoin Bernard Sumner, Phil Cunningham, and Tom Chapman on stage, Morris admitted uncertainty. "I don’t know," Morris said to Rolling Stone, describing the illness as serious and permanent. "It’s not something that someone’s going to come up with a cure for."

Despite the travel restrictions, Morris confirmed to Rolling Stone that he still sees his bandmates socially and continues to make music locally, noting that giving up music entirely would feel "like losing a leg."

Upcoming International Dates and Lineup Adjustments

New Order is scheduled to perform live shows in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia.

Hook and his former bandmates settled a long-running legal dispute over assets and the New Order name in 2017.

Hall of Fame Induction and Persistent Divisions

The lineup tensions resurface ahead of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony later this year. Joy Division and New Order are set to be inducted together, honoring members Ian Curtis, Gillian Gilbert, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, and Bernard Sumner.

Morris told Rolling Stone that travel limitations will likely keep him from attending the ceremony in person. Meanwhile, Peter Hook told Rolling Stone in April that he has no intention of standing alongside his former bandmates at the event.

"No. No. Not after what they did to me and my family, no," Hook told Rolling Stone. "I won’t stand with them."
