The creators of the animated comedy “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, announced they are temporarily renaming their long-running television series “SOUTH AMERICA” in a satirical jab at President Donald Trump and major tech companies, according to statements posted on the show’s official Instagram page.

The name change arrives just a week before the premiere of the show’s 29th season.

According to The Independent, Apple and Google updated their respective Maps apps to label Lake Ontario as “Lake America” for U.S. users, and similarly adopted the new designation for the Gulf of Mexico.

Creators Take Aim at Paramount and Skydance

In their social media statement, Parker and Stone acknowledged these corporate adjustments directly.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the creators wrote on Instagram, as reported by The Independent. The satirists also included a pointed reference to their parent company, adding, “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

“South Park” airs on Comedy Central, which is owned by Paramount.

Parker and Stone have publicly targeted Paramount’s recent merger developments with Skydance, though the partnership remains lucrative. In July 2025, Paramount secured a five-year renewal deal with Parker and Stone that includes streaming rights for previous seasons on Paramount+, according to The Independent.

A Legacy of Unflinching Political Satire

This latest parody is part of a broader history of political satire from the show’s creators. The series recently won the Emmy Award for outstanding animated program.
