Austrian midfielder Valentino Müller has signed with SK Austria Wien on a contract running through the end of the 2024–25 season, joining the club as a free agent following a departure from WSG Tirol. According to an interview published by Austrian sports outlet Ligaportal, the 27-year-old was unveiled by the Vienna club in September after spending several months without a team following the expiration of his contract with the Wattens-based side.

Müller arrives at the Generali Arena with extensive Bundesliga experience, having logged 181 appearances with 20 goals and 13 assists across stints with WSG Tirol, LASK, and SCR Altach. During negotiations in September, the central midfielder drew interest from rival SK Rapid and various international suitors, including clubs in Dubai and Armenia, according to his interview with Ligaportal. Ultimately, Müller chose Austria Wien due to the sporting project outlined by management and head coach Stephan Helm.
“The contact is over my advisor entstanden,” Müller told Ligaportal regarding the swift nature of the transfer. “He has meant that he could imagine the Austria for me very well—and I could imagine that of course equally well. After that, everything went quite fast.”
Squad Role and Physical Preparation After Free-Agent Stint
Austria Wien currently sits in a challenging position in the Austrian Bundesliga table, making squad integration a priority for the veteran midfielder. Müller noted that the squad blends experienced veterans over 30 with young prospects possessing high potential, leaving a gap in leadership that he intends to fill. “Mannschaftstraining and above all games you cannot simulate one to one,” Müller explained to Ligaportal concerning his physical conditioning. “With time you naturally lack rhythm. Therefore I am glad now to be back with a team, to stand in training, and to play football.”
