Gendarmerie Operations During Albret Jazz Festival Opening Night
The gendarmerie operation took place between 22 hours and 1 hour of the night following the festival’s initial events on Friday, September 11. According to local reporting, twenty military personnel stationed themselves across multiple sectors within the Pays d’Albret to monitor drivers and deter dangerous behaviors on the road during the cultural event.
Over the course of the three-hour operation, law enforcement officers intercepted and checked a total of 147 vehicles. The checks uncovered seven distinct infractions spanning substance use, vehicle documentation, and driving privileges.
Breakdown of Recorded Traffic Infractions
Alcohol consumption accounted for two of the seven infractions registered by the military personnel. One motorist was caught driving under the influence at a delictual level, registering 0.89 milligrams of alcohol per liter of exhaled air. A second driver recorded a lower, contraventional level of 0.29 milligrams per liter of exhaled air.
Beyond alcohol-related violations, the gendarmerie identified two separate instances of driving without insurance. Officers also caught one motorist operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license, an offense that resulted in the immediate immobilization of the automobile. Additional violations logged during the night included a non-extended driver’s license and a failure to yield at a stop sign.
