Matteo Perego Launches Milan Mayoral Bid With Focus on Security and Administration

Addressing Urban Security and Neighborhood Decay

Perego criticized the current municipal leadership, accusing the administration of relying on empty slogans while failing to deliver concrete results for residents. According to LaPresse, his platform centers on restoring public safety so that citizens can walk through neighborhoods in the evening without fear of crime or violence. He also emphasized the need to revitalize neglected green spaces and improve upkeep in suburban districts outside the city center.

Proposing Special Metropolis Status for Milan

To give the city the tools required to manage its growth, Perego called for the enactment of a special legislative status for Milan. According to LaPresse, this special status would grant the metropolis expanded administrative powers. Perego stated that the center-right coalition is preparing a strong, unified alternative aimed at positioning Milan as a leading European capital that attracts young professionals and engages civil society in urban transformation.
