Model and television host Heidi Klum’s oldest son, Henry Klum, celebrated his 21st birthday on Saturday by receiving a Ferrari F430 from his stepfather, musician Tom Kaulitz, fulfilling a wager the two made roughly seven years ago. According to reporting from outlets including Focus, the luxury car arrived on the family’s property featuring a gold bow on the hood, catching the birthday recipient by surprise in a video shared on social media.
The Mario Kart Wager Origins
The sports car serves as the payoff for a childhood bet established years prior, as detailed by Tom Kaulitz in the Netflix reality series Kaulitz & Kaulitz and cited by Focus. Wanting to establish his role as a stepfather, Kaulitz challenged Henry to a game of Mario Kart. The terms dictated that if Kaulitz won, Henry would abstain from video games for three years, whereas a victory for Henry would secure him a Ferrari upon turning 21.
According to Focus, Kaulitz purchased the vehicle approximately one year prior to the handover at an auction for 152,000 US dollars, which translates to roughly 130,000 euros. The vehicle was kept in storage until the birthday milestone.
