The St. Cloud State men’s and women’s golf teams open their 2026-27 fall schedules on Monday, September 14, 2026, traveling to Hudson, Wisconsin, to compete in the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl hosted at the Troy Burne Golf Club, according to releases from participating athletic departments. The two-day tournament brings together programs from across the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for the opening stretch of the collegiate golf season.

Troy Burne Golf Course Layout and Field Details

Play takes place at the Troy Burne Golf Club, a 6,978-yard course featuring a 74.5 course rating and a 142 slope, according to St. Cloud State athletics. Opened in June 1999, the 420-acre course is carved out of the rolling hills of the St. Croix Valley and includes over 120 bunkers, bent grass fairways, and stadium greens. Water comes into play on eight holes, while amber prairie grasses line the hillsides adjacent to the fairways.

The tournament serves as an early benchmark following the release of the 2026-27 NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Polls, which picked Winona State to top the men’s preseason ranking and Wayne State to lead the women’s poll.

St. Cloud State brings both its men’s and women’s squads to Wisconsin. St. Cloud State’s women’s roster includes Emma Forsberg, Emma Ryan, and Alyssa Scherping.

Cameron Kaye, a junior transfer from Phoenix, Arizona, highlights the St. Cloud State men’s roster as the team’s preseason player to watch after spending time at Mesa Community College and Paradise Valley Community College, where he served as team captain and notched three collegiate top-10 finishes. First-year St. Cloud State head coach Trey Fessler oversees the program this season. Fessler arrives with extensive playing experience, having earned NJCAA First Team All-America honors in 2020, played on the PGA Tour in Latin America from 2021 to 2023, and captured 2025 titles at the Minnesota PGA Golf Championship and the Minnesota PGA Assistant Championship.

For the University of Mary men’s golf team, the Fall Brawl follows a sixth-place finish at the season-opening Bemidji State Invitational, where the Marauders climbed three spots in the standings on the final day, led by Quinn Breidenbach, Evan Booth, Lucas Greenlun, and Lucas Schoepp.

Tournament Schedule and Outlook

Competition runs across Monday, September 14, and Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Live results for the event are made available through participating athletic department platforms as NSIC teams position themselves for the remainder of the fall slate.
