Hyundai Card is backing Korean Air’s rollout of SpaceX’s Starlink high-speed inflight Wi-Fi, deepening a partnership that spans co-branded credit cards, AI-driven data marketing, and brand projects. According to an official company announcement on September 14, 2026, Hyundai Card will provide strategic support for the satellite internet implementation and participate in upcoming digital marketing initiatives tied to the new service.

The collaboration extends a seven-year partnership between the two companies. In 2020, Hyundai Card and Korean Air launched South Korea’s first airline-exclusive private label credit card (PLCC), known as the Korean Air Card, later releasing the Korean Air Card Edition 2 in 2024 alongside a mileage emergency credit service.

Korean Air plans to equip its widebody aircraft with SpaceX’s Starlink service before rolling out the high-speed connectivity across its broader fleet in stages. Unlike traditional geostationary satellites that orbit much farther from Earth, Starlink relies on a constellation of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. This setup minimizes latency and provides high-speed data transmission capable of supporting heavy data consumption tasks such as online gaming, cloud computing, and high-definition streaming services while passengers are in flight, according to company disclosures.

From Credit Cards to AI Marketing and Inflight Digital Services

The alliance between the two firms has expanded far beyond traditional financial products into data utilization and cultural branding. Starting in 2025, Korean Air integrated Hyundai Card’s artificial intelligence-based personalized marketing solutions, executing over 100 targeted campaigns. In branding and logistics, Hyundai Card manufactured limited-edition luggage name tags in 2021 using decommissioned Korean Air aircraft materials. Furthermore, the two companies signed an agreement for Korean Air to transport valuable artworks destined for exhibitions at the Hyundai Card Storage cultural space.

With the integration of Starlink, Hyundai Card plans to develop joint marketing campaigns and consumer benefits centered around the new inflight digital experience. This integration bridges financial services, aviation infrastructure, and modern satellite communication technology.
