The Texas Longhorns head into their Week 3 matchup against UTSA managing multiple injury concerns following a hard-fought win, according to head coach Steve Sarkisian. Speaking to the media on Monday, Sarkisian outlined roster updates regarding tight end Nick Townsend, offensive lineman Neto Seymore, and defensive lineman Justus Terry.
Nick Townsend Sidelined With Knee Injury After Ohio State Win
According to Steve Sarkisian, tight end Nick Townsend is dealing with a knee injury sustained during the team’s recent game against Ohio State. Townsend exited the contest in the second half after getting hurt on a kickoff, spending a brief moment on the turf before walking to the locker room with trainers without an obvious limp. Sarkisian noted that the program is evaluating the timeline for his return, stating, “We’re going to continue to evaluate him to see when we can get him back. How long that will be, I don’t know.” Last season, Townsend contributed two catches for seven yards and a crucial fourth-quarter rushing touchdown against Texas A&M, followed by a nine-yard reception in the season opener against Texas State.
Depth Options at Tight End for the Longhorns
Emaree Winston stepped up significantly against Ohio State with three receptions for 39 yards. The roster also features Spencer Shannon, noted as the tallest player on the team, alongside Michigan State transfer Michael Masunas, who adds veteran experience and depth to the position.

Neto Seymore Cleared Following August Injury Hiccup
Offensive lineman Neto Seymore is cleared and fine moving forward, according to Sarkisian. Seymore previously dealt with an injury stemming from the team’s first fall scrimmage in August, which Sarkisian labeled an injury hiccup. While Dylan Sikorski currently holds the starting left guard position over Seymore, Seymore remains a vital contributor for offensive line depth throughout the season.
Justus Terry Misses Ohio State Game Due to Pregame Foot Injury
Defensive lineman Justus Terry missed the Ohio State game after suffering a foot injury during pregame warmups, according to Sarkisian. “That hurt because we had a plan for him in this game,” Sarkisian stated. “We were counting on him, and in football sometimes that happens. You know, and you just deal with it. Hopefully, we get him back sooner rather than later because he is performing at a high level.” Terry recorded three total tackles in the season opener against Texas State, following a true freshman campaign in 2024 where he tallied eight total tackles.
