Alpine A110 Goes Electric
Alpine is preparing to transition its compact sports car to an all-electric powertrain starting next year. While technical specifications remain under wraps, a development mule run at Goodwood indicates the new model will maintain a profile similar to the outgoing petrol version. The vehicle is projected to weigh under 1.5 tonnes, feature a 40:60 rear-biased weight split, and deliver up to 500bhp via twin in-wheel motors at the rear, managed by an active torque vectoring system.
Audi A2 Makes Public Debut With MEB Platform
Audi is presenting its A2 electric vehicle in public for the first time at the Paris exhibition, following its initial reveal. Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the vehicle serves as a spiritual successor to the original lightweight hatchback. Audi states that the model achieves up to 401 miles of range in its longest-range configuration, alongside a 322bhp performance variant.
Citroën 2CV and Dacia Spring Expand Affordable EV Segment
Citroën is highlighting the revival of its 2CV nameplate, confirming plans for an accessible electric model positioned in the A-segment to rival vehicles like the Renault Twingo and Dacia Spring. Concurrently, Dacia is displaying its second-generation Spring in the metal for the first time. The European-built Spring features an 80bhp motor, a 27.5kWh battery providing a 155-mile range, and a projected price tag below £18,000.
Fiat Introduces Pandina and Grizzly Compacts
Stellantis brand Fiat is expanding its electric lineup in Paris by introducing compact additions to the Panda family. Alongside the Grande Panda, the manufacturer is expected to debut a smaller city car bearing the Pandina moniker, sharing technical underpinnings with the Citroën 2CV. Additionally, Fiat is showcasing the Grizzly, a larger SUV and fastback built on the Smart Car platform.
