Encompass Health Opens New 50-Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Pennsylvania

Facility Capabilities and Patient Care Services

The 50-bed hospital provides specialized rehabilitative care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions, according to company statements. Treatment programs are designed to restore functional ability, independence, and overall quality of life. Patients receive a minimum of three hours of intensive physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy five days a week. In addition to daily therapies, patients undergo regular physician visits and receive 24-hour nursing care.

An interdisciplinary team composed of specialized nurses, therapists, and physicians collaborates to develop customized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s recovery milestones. Facility amenities include private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym equipped with advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite, an in-house dialysis suite, a therapy courtyard, a dining room, an in-house pharmacy, and designated dayroom areas.

Leadership and Regional Expansion

Dianne Charsha serves as the chief executive officer of the Lower Providence hospital, bringing more than 30 years of leadership experience in hospital management to the position. Charsha holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wilkes College, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in nursing practice from Drexel University.

The opening expands Encompass Health’s national footprint. Encompass Health operates as the largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in the United States, managing 177 hospitals across 39 states and Puerto Rico.
