JustWatch to Launch Own AVOD Streaming Service, JustWatch TV

The operator of the global streaming guide is launching its own advertising-based video on demand platform, JustWatch TV, this October. The rollout targets twelve major territories: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. The announcement came from TIFF: The Market at the Toronto International Film Festival.

JustWatch Group Enters Streaming Market with Global AVOD Launch

Building an All-in-One Interface for Fragmented Audiences

JustWatch TV will live directly inside the existing JustWatch app and website. Millions already open the platform daily to find movies and television shows. The main guide currently serves more than 50 million monthly users. It indexes programming from over 1,500 streaming services worldwide across 140 markets.

The new setup aims to cut down user frustration caused by media fragmentation. Viewers will get three distinct viewing options within a single interface: a free ad-supported tier, paid ad-free subscriptions, and individual rentals.

Quentin Carbonell, senior vice president of global content acquisitions and strategy at JustWatch, addressed the platform’s vision for curation. The service intends to highlight both mainstream hits and hard-to-find titles. Users can watch these options directly on the platform or rediscover them on external services.

Securing Major Studio Partnerships for October Rollout

A roster of notable production and distribution companies has signed on to supply the catalog for the October launch. JustWatch Group has secured content partnerships with Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street, and Vortex Media.

Carbonell emphasized that the service is structured to support the broader entertainment ecosystem. This includes filmmakers and distributors, all by bridging the gap between discovery and playback.

Expanding a Berlin-Headquartered Footprint Worldwide

The company’s core streaming guide features currently point users to more than 500,000 titles. It also feeds data to over 1,400 partner websites and apps.
