The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is releasing a new batch of tour reservations for the renovated Salt Lake Temple on September 15 at 6 p.m. MDT, according to official announcements from the Church. This release follows an initial demand that saw the first wave of 1 million reservations claimed in less than 24 hours after bookings opened.

How to Secure Salt Lake Temple Tour Tickets

Visitors can access the reservation system through TempleSquare.org or by downloading the official Temple Square app available for Apple and Android devices, as outlined by Church newsroom updates. Following Tuesday’s release, the Church scheduled another batch of tickets for October 1 at 6 p.m.

Schedule and Accessibility for the Six-Month Celebration

The open house tours form a core part of the broader Salt Lake Temple Celebration, which runs from April 5 through October 1, 2027. Tour times operate from 8:40 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Accessibility accommodations include language support, assistive listening options, and services for guests with mobility, vision, and hearing needs.

Distinguishing Meetinghouses from Sacred Temples

Church leaders emphasize that while local meetinghouses remain open to the public for regular Sunday worship, temples serve a distinct religious function. According to official statements, temples are dedicated as houses of the Lord where members participate in sacred ordinances and make covenants centered on Jesus Christ. Chibota stated via the Church newsroom that the open house offers guests an opportunity “about coming closer to Jesus Christ” rather than simply touring a notable architectural structure.

Virtual Participation Options Worldwide

For individuals unable to travel to Salt Lake City, the six-month event provides digital resources and a virtual tour of the temple. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who chairs the Salt Lake Temple Executive Committee, noted that the celebration extends a universal message to a global audience. Participants worldwide can access online exhibits and updates by subscribing to the Temple Square email list alongside in-person events on Temple Square.
