The Reus Final and WTA Ranking Context

In the championship match at Reus, Ariana Geerlings faced Spain’s Lucía Cortez, who claimed the tournament title. The runner-up finish reinforced Geerlings’ progression on the professional tour following a notable summer campaign. She currently holds the No. 572 spot in the WTA singles rankings, having previously reached a career-high position of No. 293 on August 11, 2025.

The Reus draw also featured fellow Andalusian competitor Victoria Gómez O’Hayon, who advanced through the qualifying rounds by defeating Lucía Fernández and Aliesia Reva. Her run in the main draw ended in the first round against eventual champion Lucía Cortez.

International Success for Andalusian Players in Tunisia

Almerian tennis player María Oliver delivered a strong performance at the ITF W15 tournament in Monastir, Tunisia. She reached the quarterfinals by securing straight-sets victories over American player Sofía Camila Rojas in her opening match and Turkey’s Doga Turkmen in the second round.
