Emergency services searching for missing three-year-old Noah Woods in Suffolk recovered a child’s body from a village pond, according to Suffolk Police. The toddler had disappeared from a playground in Brantham at approximately 15:00 BST on Tuesday after separating from a relative, prompting a large-scale community and agency response.
Search Operation and Discovery in Brantham
The discovery was made in Decoy Pond, located roughly 350 yards from the playground where Noah was last seen. Supt Tom Pearse of Suffolk Police stated that the death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and the coroner will be notified of the development.
Formal identification of the body has not yet taken place, though Noah’s family has been informed of the recovery. Police, fire teams, and specialist dive units from the Metropolitan Police participated in the search of the fishing lake after officers cordoned off the area on Wednesday.

According to Suffolk Police figures, at least 1,300 members of the public joined emergency services on the ground to look for the missing boy. Volunteers traveled from areas including Birmingham and Hampshire to assist local efforts coordinated from the Brantham Leisure Centre and village hall.
The multi-agency operation included the Suffolk Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SULSAR), the Environment Agency, HM Coastguard, the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, and the ambulance service. Aerial support was provided by helicopters from the National Police Air Service and HM Coastguard, utilizing thermal imaging and door-to-door inquiries.
Investigation and Next Steps
Authorities noted during the search that Noah was autistic, non-verbal, and experienced partial hearing loss, meaning he would not respond if his name was called out. Police later confirmed that CCTV footage tracked his final movements running down an alley near the playground toward a housing estate.
Supt Pearse expressed gratitude for the public response, stating that the agencies involved and the family had been overwhelmed by the community’s support. Police have requested that the public respect the family’s need for time, space, and privacy as formal procedures continue.
