The Boston Film Festival opens its 42nd season with the world premiere of Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires on September 18 at the Boch Center-Wang Theatre. Directed by Daniel E.

The documentary tracks the band from early rehearsals and recording sessions to large-scale global performances. The film highlights collaborations with musical talent both on and behind the stage as the group transformed from an improbable gathering of famous friends into a live touring act.

A live, in-person Q&A follows the September 18 screening.

Production credits for Unleashed Spirits include Paul Geary, Ernie Boch Jr., Leslie Atkins, Steve Moss, Shep Gordon, David Kernan, and Andrew Ward.

The Boston Film Festival runs from September 17 through September 21, marking its 42nd season.

Live Album Release and Festival History

Ahead of the documentary premiere, the Hollywood Vampires released a digital live album capturing their 2018 performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The release serves as a tribute to Motörhead icon Lemmy Kilmister. A physical CD version is scheduled for release on October 16 through earMusic.
