The Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera (FIDAL) protects all official data, results, rankings, times, athlete names, and event media published on its platforms under Italian copyright law, specifically Law 633 of 1941. According to FIDAL regulations, unauthorized automated data extraction, including web scraping, crawling, and data mining, is strictly prohibited across all federation digital properties.

Copyright Protections and Legal Framework

Italian legislation safeguards sports databases, race results, and timing metrics as intellectual property. According to Law 633/1941, unauthorized reproduction, republication, commercialization, or combination of federation data with external datasets violates national copyright protections and related rights under articles 102-bis and subsequent provisions. Violators face prosecution under applicable legal frameworks, including EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), Articles 167 and subsequent provisions of Legislative Decree 196/2003 regarding the Privacy Code, and relevant copyright statutes.

Data Governance and Authorized Use

Sport Events Management, developed in cooperation with FIDAL and AM-Linkweb, governs the digital infrastructure and official publication of results for Italian athletics events. All content published via these systems requires prior written authorization from the Italian Athletics Federation before any redistribution or reuse. Unauthorized commercial exploitation or automated harvesting of rankings and athlete rosters triggers immediate legal enforcement to protect intellectual property and participant privacy rights.
