Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series VisionQuest arrives on October 14, serving as the final chapter in a loose streaming trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. According to Disney Upfronts footage and reporting from TheWrap, the narrative follows Vision as he regains his memories but struggles with a strange disconnect, remembering his past without feeling like he lived it.
Plot Direction and MCU Timeline Placement
That emotional gap pushes Vision into a desperate search for identity and humanity. According to coverage of the project, the series is timed closely with the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline, concluding just ahead of the theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday.
Paul Bettany returns as Vision to anchor the cast, continuing a long-running tenure in the franchise that paused when his character departed at the end of WandaVision. Speaking about the project on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany said, “It manages to feel very much like it’s somehow a part of that world, an end to a trilogy of sorts, whilst also being very much its own thing, and it is just really good. I’m really proud of it.”
Returning Characters and Expanding Cast
James Spader returns to the MCU as Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Because Ultron was previously destroyed by the Avengers, his reappearance stands as a major plot development for the series. Faran Tahir also reprises his role as Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings faction originally introduced in 2008’s Iron Man.
Several new performers join the franchise through the series:
- Emily Hampshire plays E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-created artificial intelligence system introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
- T’Nia Miller portrays Jocasta, a powerful and intelligent character driven by revenge who, in Marvel Comics, turns against her creator, Ultron.
- Ruaridh Mollica appears as Thomas Shepherd, a figure linked to Vision’s family storyline and potentially connected to Billy Maximoff from Agatha All Along.
- Todd Stashwick plays an assassin tasked with hunting androids and advanced technology.
- Jonathan Sayer and Henry Lewis play U and DUM-E, respectively, bringing Tony Stark’s robotic workshop assistants into the live-action series. Lewis confirmed his casting on Instagram, writing that he had an “incredible experience working on the show.”
- Orla Brady voices F.R.I.D.A.Y., the Stark AI system previously featured in multiple MCU films.
- Diane Morgan appears as an associate of Paladin, according to Variety.
- Lauren Morais takes on the role of Lisa Molinari, a character tied to Thomas Shepherd.
- Mary McDonnell has joined the production in an undisclosed capacity, with Marvel keeping her character details under wraps.
