The Black Chamber of Arizona announced the creation of the Arizona Impact Center during its 27th Anniversary Pinnacle Pathways Gala held at the Renaissance Hotel, according to the organization. Scheduled to open in the spring of 2026, the 5,400-square-foot facility will serve as a hub for business innovation and economic empowerment designed to foster generational wealth across the state.
Arizona Impact Center Location and Design
The new center will be housed in a historic downtown Phoenix building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and owned by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, according to the Black Chamber of Arizona. The facility aims to function as a collaborative space for entrepreneurs, corporate partners, and community leaders. Black Chamber President and CEO Dr. Velma Trayham stated that the hub’s programs will focus on creating pathways for generational wealth and inclusive growth.
Gala Attendees and Award Recipients
Governor Katie Hobbs headlined the program and delivered the featured address alongside Dr. Velma Trayham and Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers at the Renaissance Hotel event, which drew more than 500 attendees, according to the Black Chamber of Arizona. Governor Hobbs and Mayor Weiers presented official proclamations to the chamber during the evening.
The organization presented several awards recognizing contributions to small business and inclusive economic development:
- Innovation & Regional Impact Award: Accepted by Aviation Director Chad Makovsky on behalf of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, according to the Black Chamber of Arizona.
- Community Impact Award: Presented to Bank of America President Scott Vanderpool, according to the organization.
- Rising Star Award: Awarded to TJ Stevenson and Copperstate Riding Club.
- Small Business Impact Honorees: Included Latha Restaurant and Bar, Look Better Naked Spa, First Step to Greatness, Arizona Filmmakers, Italian Smiles Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, and Holy Hands Painter.
Funding and Support Programs
As the Black Chamber of Arizona’s signature fundraiser, the annual Pinnacle Pathways Gala supports youth development programs, small business expansion, workforce readiness, and justice-impacted entrepreneurship for individuals with past involvement in the criminal justice system, according to the chamber’s website. The event featured remarks from National Business League President and CEO Ken L. Harris, Honorary Co-Chairs Dr. Sharon Smith of ASU and Tony Bell of SRP, and Slutty Vegan founder “Pinky” Cole Hays.
The event also drew elected officials and business leaders from Chicago, Detroit, Nevada, California, Texas, and South Carolina. Musical performances included local artist Tina Estes singing the national anthem and a performance by the Phoenix-based band Ear Candy, according to event organizers.
Future Outlook and Next Gala
The Black Chamber of Arizona announced that the next Pinnacle Pathways Gala will be hosted by the city of Chandler on December 12, 2026. The continued expansion of the organization’s programming precedes the scheduled 2026 opening of the Arizona Impact Center in downtown Phoenix.
