<.p>In Morelos, state health authorities honored 13 families who chose to donate the organs and tissue of deceased loved ones to provide life-saving transplants to patients in need. According to the Morelos Ministry of Health, the commemorative gathering took place through the State Council for Transplants (COETRA) to mark the National Day of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation.
Honoring Donor Families and Recipients in Morelos
State health officials gathered to recognize the human impact behind transplant procedures across local medical institutions. According to Morelos Health Secretary and COETRA President Mario Ocampo Ocampo, the coordinators of donation programs provide essential guidance and sensitivity to families navigating difficult choices. Rolando González Nájera, general director of Health Services of Morelos (SSM), noted that donation takes many forms, including living donors who give an organ to a relative or stranger without expecting anything in return.
During the event, participants shared personal accounts of transplantation. Teresita de Jesús Linos Vázquez spoke about donating a kidney to her relative, Luis Linos Vázquez, which improved his health and quality of life. Jennifer Montiel Xolio shared the story of her late father, whose posthumous donation helped other patients.
Recognizing Coordinators Across Health Institutions
The state government acknowledged the hospital coordinators who facilitate the donation process across multiple health networks. According to state officials, the recognized coordinators include Ana Paulina Rosas Flores from the IMSS Hospital Regional número 1; Isabel Lucero Celeste Montero Magallón from the Instituto Mexicano de Trasplantes; Fernando Emmanuel Hernández Ponce from the General Hospital of Cuernavaca “Dr. José G. Parres”; and Sergio Alejandro Barragán Salas from the Hospital de Alta Especialidad Centenario de la Revolución Mexicana del ISSSTE.
Additional institutional representatives attended the ceremony, including Luis Raúl Meza López, director of the Hospital de Alta Especialidad Centenario de la Revolución Mexicana del ISSSTE; Guillermo Antonio Mondragón Ramírez, medical director and transplant surgeon at the Instituto Mexicano de Trasplantes; Anita Romero Ramírez representing IMSS Bienestar; Mariano Castillo Salazar representing IMSS Morelos; and Ivette Amaro Guzmán representing the Subdelegación del ISSSTE en Morelos. COETRA continues to coordinate efforts among educational, medical, and security institutions to strengthen the donor culture throughout the state.
