Man Arrested After Woman Found Dead in Dijon Apartment, Police Say

At around 12:30 a.m., police from Dijon’s anti-crime unit responded to a call about loud noises at an apartment, according to Ouest-France and Le Parisien. Upon arrival, officers heard “breaking sounds” inside and, after failing to get a response, forced entry with a battering ram. Inside, they found a man attempting to leap through a window. Officers intervened, preventing the man from escaping, and placed him in custody, the Dijon prosecutor’s office reported.

The suspect, described as “in a state of great agitation,” was later placed in custody for questioning. A source told Le Parisien that the man had “recently started a relationship” with the victim, though no prior history of domestic violence was noted.

Discovery of the Victim

Inside the apartment, police discovered the woman’s body in a bedroom. She had “a swollen face” and a “significant wound at the back of her head,” according to Le Parisien. A prosecutor’s statement confirmed she had “facial and rib injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, an agent d’entretien (custodial worker), was found in the Fontaine-d’Ouche neighborhood of Dijon.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

The prosecutor’s office has opened a “flagrance investigation” into “homicide by a cohabiting partner,” citing the close relationship between the victim and the suspect. No further details about the couple’s history were released, but the suspect’s lack of prior criminal records was highlighted by authorities.
