Sweden Voter Fraud Scandal: Ebba Busch Warns of “Total Failure”

Swedish police are investigating serious allegations of election fraud related to the Left Party’s representative Mohamed Abdukardir Ali in Borlänge, which has sparked a strong political debate about the legitimacy of elections in Sweden.

Police investigation and allegations of election fraud in Dalarna

The case concerns Mohamed Abdukardir Ali, who secured the Left Party’s only parliamentary seat from Dalarna after receiving 648 personal votes. Swedish police are now investigating suspicions of election fraud in Borlänge, after a report was received. According to Swedish media, the report contains information that voters from vulnerable areas were driven to polling stations and given pre-marked ballots. Ali has taken a break from the Riksdag while the investigation is ongoing, but he himself has denied any involvement and is not listed as a suspect in the police investigation, according to information reported by Aftonbladet.

Ebba Busch directs harsh criticism at the party leadership

Christian Democrats leader Ebba Busch reacts strongly to how the Left Party has handled the situation. In Platform X, reproduced by Aftonbladet, she describes the situation as “a total disaster” and believes that the legitimacy of the election is at stake, especially since the margin between the political blocs was very narrow. Busch sharply criticizes the party for taking the accusations too lightly.

It took three days for the leader of the Left Party, Nooshi Dadgostar, to speak out publicly about the case. In an interview with Aftonbladet, she described the allegations as “very serious,” but emphasized that she wanted to wait for the police investigation to determine the facts. Dadgostar also downplayed the risk that the case would have consequences for the ongoing government negotiations.

Government negotiations and soundings in Stockholm

At the same time as the election drama unfolds around the mandate in Dalarna, the leader of the Social Democrats, Magdalena Andersson, is working to gather the necessary documents for a government. Andersson told Sveriges Radio that she has had good talks with several of the party leaders in the Riksdag after being given the assignment by Speaker Andreas Norlén the previous Friday. However, several sources tell TV4 that there is no progress on the formation of the government itself, and that the parties have not yet started real negotiations on the government issue.
