KAI will shorten the train arrival headway on the Rangkas Bitung Green Line Commuter Line from 10 to 15 minutes down to 4 to 5 minutes. The adjustment is being made to accommodate surging passenger volumes and residential growth along the route.

. According to Leza, an average of 245,085 people use the KRL green line every day.
Surging Passenger Volumes and High Occupancy Rates
KAI recorded a continuous increase in passenger volume on the Rangkasbitung line over recent years. Annual customer figures reached 43,317,716 in 2022, rose to 62,085,471 in 2023, and climbed to 69,999,362 in 2024 before hitting 77,552,716 in 2025. From January to May 2026, the line recorded 33,397,420 customers.
Currently, the peak occupancy rate on the Rangkasbitung Line reaches approximately 161 percent, which is the highest among all Commuter Line routes. By comparison, peak occupancy on the Bogor line sits around 130 percent, while the Bekasi/Cikarang line is at roughly 140 percent.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Target Schedules
During a hearing with House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin outlined plans to improve facilities and infrastructure to handle 1.1 million Jabodetabek KRL passengers daily. Bobby stated that the company will enhance signaling systems to achieve the 4 to 5-minute headway for trains already operating with 12 cars (SF12).
Bobby explained that KAI has begun installing five traction substations for the Rangkas Bitung green line this year alongside uprating nine other substations. The company targets that by the first semester of 2027, the entire green line route will be able to accommodate 12-car train sets.
