Mekki Leeper Lands Prime Video Series Order for Private Equity Comedy ‘New Money’
Inside the Plot of ‘New Money Worldwide’
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, New Money is structured as an ensemble workplace comedy centered on the high-stakes and morally dubious world of private equity. The narrative follows a trust-fund baby turned self-proclaimed mogul who leads a staff of misguided wannabes at New Money Worldwide, identified in the official logline as Southern California’s least successful venture capital firm. The characters’ delusions of grandeur and complete incompetence drive them to fail upwards as they recklessly invest money in pursuit of larger financial gains.
Origins of the Project and Key Creative Team
The series developed out of a self-financed pilot titled Fintech, which Leeper created, directed, and starred in before bringing it to buyers with Rob Mac attached as an executive producer through More Better Productions. Alongside Leeper and Mande—whose writing credits include Hacks, The Good Place, and Parks and Recreation—the executive producer roster includes Jackie Cohn, Nick Frenkel of 3 Arts Entertainment, and Olivia Doud of Mosaic.

Amazon MGM Studios Head of Global Television Peter Friedlander praised Leeper’s comedic perspective in a statement released alongside the announcement, calling him a rare talent and pointing to the creative pedigree of Mande as a strong foundation for the project.
