Blizzard Entertainment released the first official patch for the World of Warcraft Forever beta on September 24, introducing sweeping class adjustments, racial nerfs, and bug fixes ahead of the game’s official November 5 launch. The beta test period runs until October 21, giving players access to early levels while developers implement balance patches based on community feedback.
Class Adjustments and Skill Reworks
The September 24 patch targets numerous class abilities, altering damage scaling, cooldowns, and mechanics across multiple specializations. Druid spells receive significant attention: base damage for Wrath increases by roughly 50%, while Rejuvenation, Tranquility, and Wild Growth now correctly trigger critical strikes. Feral druids see Maul renamed to Primal Bite to accurately reflect the ability, and Savage Defense (Cat) can no longer target allies.

Hunter pets experience a 40% reduction in the Furious Howl attack power bonus, and Tame Beast no longer functions on beasts above the hunter’s level. Mage specialization Fire receives duration extensions, pushing Flame Waking to 30 seconds and Hot Streak to 20 seconds, while Arcane Missiles now check line-of-sight only once at the start of the channel rather than per missile.
Paladin changes focus heavily on Consecration bug fixes and Holy Strike adjustments. The weapon damage percentage per rank for Holy Strike shifts to a scale ranging from 25% to 50%. Meanwhile, Righteous Fury’s threat increase from holy damage moves to 60%, down from 90%. Retribution paladins see Vengeance max stacks reduced to 3, with two-handed weapon specialization damage increases adjusted down to 2%, 4%, and 6%.
Racial Nerfs and Gameplay Fixes
Racial traits undergo notable balancing adjustments, highlighted by a nerf to Gnome characters that standardizes Eureka’s mana, rage, and energy skill discounts at 10%. Tauren harvesting now enforces level requirements for herbs based on their gathering difficulty, allowing herbs requiring herbalism above 300 to be gathered at player level 60.

The patch also addresses numerous world bugs, interface issues, and gamepad controls. A new Cooldown Manager feature arrives for testing on druids, mages, priests, warriors, and warlocks, allowing players to track critical spells through a customizable interface. Gamepad support expands with compact action bar options and fixed party targeting layouts, though known beta issues remain regarding healthstone tracking and pet cooldown displays.
