The construction of the Monumen Toga Gultom officially resumed on Friday, September 25, 2026, with a formal foundation-laying ceremony in Desa Huta Hotang, Kecamatan Onan Runggu, Kabupaten Samosir. The project addresses a long-held desire among the pomparan Toga Gultom to establish a physical anchor for their shared history, identity, and unity, backed by local government support.
Toga Gultom Foundation Monument Laid in Samosir Regency
Bupati Samosir Vandiko T. Gultom and Parsadaan Toga Gultom Samosir (PTGS) Chairman Padot M. Gultom jointly set the foundation stakes during the event. The ceremony drew a gathering of community members, religious figures, construction committee organizers, and executive board members from the DPP PGTS, reflecting a deep sense of family and collective purpose.
Government Backing and Site Infrastructure
Local administration officials joined the regional leader at the site to observe the restart of construction. Attendees from the Samosir Regency government included Sekdakab Samosir Marudut Tua Sitinjak, Head of Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Tumiur Gultom, Secretary of the Communication and Information Office Agustianto Sitinjak, the Camat of Onan Runggu, and several other regional department heads.
Bupati Vandiko expressed formal approval for the initiative on behalf of the regional government, noting the significance of the project for the community. “On behalf of personal and the Samosir Regency Government, I welcome and appreciate the construction of the Toga Gultom Monument,” Vandiko stated. He confirmed that the administration is prepared to assist with site preparation and access roads, provided that asset transfer procedures are completed clearly and in accordance with official regulations. The government aims to ensure that the completed monument grounds serve both the local population and visiting descendants efficiently.
Historical Symbolism and Construction Timeline
PTGS Chairman Padot M. Gultom emphasized that the project transcends physical architecture. “The construction of this monument is not just about building a structure or monument. It is a symbol of history, identity, unity, and togetherness for all Toga Gultom descendants scattered across various regions in Indonesia and around the world,” Padot said.
Organizers have established a schedule for completing the site:

To meet the deadline, Padot called on all descendants to contribute through a spirit of gotong royong and voluntary donations. He described the development as an expression of reverence for ancestors and a permanent legacy for future generations.
