No. 10 LSU defeated No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, handing the Aggies a lopsided loss in Baton Rouge. The victory advanced LSU head coach Lane Kiffin’s career record against Texas A&M to 4-0.
The loss drops Texas A&M to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in SEC play, effectively diminishing their chances of reaching the College Football Playoff without a prolonged winning streak.
### Offensive Struggles and Special Teams
Texas A&M’s offense struggled to establish a rhythm throughout the contest. Outside of a 16-yard run by Reuben Owens in the first half, the Aggies generated minimal offensive output and settled for a 24-yard field goal on a fourth-and-goal possession.
Punter Tyler White was a primary bright spot for the Aggies, averaging 51.9 yards per kick and landing three punts inside the 20-yard line. Kicker David Olano accounted for all of Texas A&M’s scoring by converting a 24-yard field goal and a 53-yard kick to avoid a shutout.
### The Turning Point in the Third Quarter
The game shifted definitively with 10:57 remaining in the third quarter. Facing a fourth-and-1 from their own 43-yard line, LSU capitalized when quarterback Sam Leavitt completed a short pass to receiver Jackson Harris, who turned it into a 57-yard touchdown. That scoring play extended the Tigers’ lead to 21-3 and put the game out of reach.

Texas A&M returns home to Kyle Field next week to face Arkansas. The upcoming matchup will serve as an early indicator for how the team responds to a difficult start to the conference schedule under Coach Elko.
