Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) announced the induction of 97 new employees in mechanical and electrical fields during a ceremony held on the 28th at its headquarters in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province. The hiring round is part of a broader workforce expansion that includes restricted recruitment pathways for veterans and persons with disabilities to support social equity.
Recruitment Breakdown and Workforce Expansion
The second recruitment cohort of 2026 comprises 47 mechanical personnel and 50 electrical personnel. According to Korea Midland Power, these new hires will undergo six weeks of introductory training before receiving placements at individual business sites.
This intake follows a first recruitment round in March that brought in 71 workers. With a third round currently open for 42 positions, KOMIPO projects its total annual hiring will reach 210 workers, marking the largest workforce expansion in the company’s history.
Artificial Intelligence and Safety Training Integration
During the induction event, KOMIPO incorporated specialized training focused on artificial intelligence tools and industrial safety protocols. The head of the AI Digital Department led a demonstration of the company’s internal generative AI platform, known as HiKomi, which included a live look at the “My Personal Assistant, HiKomi Agent” tool.
The onboarding schedule also introduced newly developed safety management frameworks for operational worksites. These protocols feature the use of quadruped robots operating under the Physical AI Integrated Management System, a technology platform currently under development by the utility firm.
Leadership Remarks on Corporate Evolution
KOMIPO President Lee Young-jo addressed the new personnel during the induction ceremony, emphasizing the need for adaptability in the energy sector. He encouraged incoming staff to build individual technical expertise while maintaining an open perspective toward ongoing industry changes.
