Via Appia Concessões is launching a six-month pilot of Valerann’s AI-powered Lanternn data fusion technology across a 32-kilometer section of the Via Colinas highway in Brazil. The trial, announced by the companies, will evaluate how advanced data fusion improves network visibility, incident detection accuracy, and operator situational awareness on a major transport corridor spanning the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
Via Colinas Corridor Trial Parameters
The pilot focuses on a 32 km segment of Via Colinas, integrating 11 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras alongside available traffic sensor streams and operational data sources. This specific corridor forms part of the wider 307 km Rodovia das Colinas concession, which links five interconnected highways throughout the São Paulo state road network.
Lanternn software is designed to synthesize multiple data streams into a single real-time operational picture without requiring modifications to existing roadside hardware or workflow adjustments. The trial aims to measure detection accuracy, detection speed, and overall system reliability against strict performance benchmarks. Operating teams will also evaluate software usability and its impact on day-to-day situational awareness.
Executive Perspectives on the Latin American Rollout
“This trial marks Lanternn’s first deployment in Brazil and an important step in Valerann’s expansion across Latin America,” said Gabriel Jacobson, CEO of Valerann.
Brendon Ramos, CEO of Via Appia Concessions, stated that the partnership will yield significant and impactful results for the highway concession sector in Brazil. The companies intend to transition from fragmented monitoring toward a unified, data-driven operating model where artificial intelligence supports human expertise rather than replacing it.
Future Deployment Plans and Network Expansion
Following the conclusion of the six-month evaluation, Valerann and Via Appia will jointly review performance findings. These results will form the basis for confirming a transition to a 12-month operational deployment across the wider concession network. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to scale the AI data fusion solution across the full Rodovia das Colinas network.
