Bose is returning to the wired earbud market for the first time in 11 years with the launch of the Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds. Priced at $99 and utilizing a USB-C connection, the earbuds feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and lossless audio support, targeting a growing trend of wired audio adoption among younger listeners.
Bose Targets Gen Z and Gen A with USB-C Return
The decision to re-enter the wired category follows a measurable shift in consumer behavior. According to reporting from WIRED, wired headphone sales rose 10 percent in the second half of 2025 and jumped another 20 percent at the start of 2026. This resurgence is driven largely by younger demographics, including Gen Z and Gen A, as well as celebrities who have integrated wired earbuds into their public image and songwriting.
Raza Haider, president of Bose Premium Consumer Audio, stated that wired earbuds are experiencing a “cultural renaissance.” Haider noted that the trend became evident during a personal trip to drop his teenager off at college last year, where he observed widespread use of wired headphones. To capitalize on this shift, Bose accelerated its development cycle, moving the product from idea to final version in approximately eight to nine months.
QuietControl ANC and Lossless Audio Specifications
Unlike basic wired options, these earbuds integrate modern noise-canceling technology. Bose uses QuietControl technology, employing four microphones—two in each earbud—to monitor and minimize ambient sound. Users can toggle between three distinct listening modes via an in-line remote: Quiet Mode for maximum noise cancellation, Aware Mode to let environmental sounds in, and ANC Off for standard listening.
The hardware is designed for high-fidelity audio and low-latency performance, which Bose says is beneficial for gaming, content creation, and video playback. Technical specifications include:
