Crystal Jade Fine Dining faces a court adjournment after a company representative failed to appear for a hearing on Sept. 29. The case involves a charge of failing to submit a complete income tax return for the 2025 year of assessment. The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) prosecutor noted this was the first time the subsidiary had missed a court date, leading the court to reschedule the hearing to Oct. 27.
Tax Filing Obligations Under Scrutiny
The company was formally charged on April 15 for failing to submit its complete income tax return on time, an offense under the Income Tax Act. If the court finds the company guilty, the charge carries a potential fine of up to $5,000. The case centers on the company’s statutory obligations to meet tax filing deadlines without a reasonable excuse.
A Strategic Contraction of Outlets
The court matter follows a period of contraction for the Singapore-based restaurant group. In September 2026, Crystal Jade closed its Hong Kong Kitchen outlets at The Clementi Mall, Jurong Point, and Great World. These closures brought the total number of shuttered outlets in Singapore for 2026 to five, following earlier closures at Hillion Mall and Suntec City.

Shifting Footprint Since 1991
The group also previously exited the Holland Village location of its Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao concept in June 2025, ending a 20-year run at that site. Crystal Jade has characterized these moves as part of an ongoing review of its operations and outlet network. According to the company, affected employees have been informed and are being provided with redeployment opportunities within the group where possible.
From Global Peak to Current Operations
Founded in Singapore in 1991, Crystal Jade grew into a Chinese restaurant chain over the past three decades. In 2015, the group operated 120 restaurants worldwide, including 47 locations within Singapore. Following the recent wave of closures, the company currently lists approximately 13 outlets in operation on its official website. The group continues to manage six distinct restaurant brands.
