Luxury Cars Discovered Near Waste Disposal Area
Investigators found two luxury automobiles abandoned near a waste disposal site within the prison grounds, according to Syafrida R Rasahan’s testimony before Komisi II DPR RI. The vehicles sat in an area that lacks perimeter fencing and connects directly to public access routes. Ombudsman officials stated they could not determine who owned or used the cars. “We don’t know who they are for,” Syafrida told the parliamentary committee on September 29, 2026.
Hospital Card Linked to Convicted Sugar Importer
Inside one of the facility’s buildings, Ombudsman inspectors uncovered a Pondok Indah Hospital card bearing the name Hansen Setiawan. Subsequent checks by the agency identified Setiawan as the president director of PT Sentra Usahatama Jaya and a convicted felon in a sugar importation case serving time at the Cibinong facility, as reported by KBKNews.id.
Extortion and Security Vulnerabilities at Cibinong Prison
Family members of inmates provided information regarding illegal levies collected inside the facility. Syafrida told lawmakers that inmates were subjected to extortion fees amounting to Rp 150,000 per week in one cell block. Alongside the alleged corruption, the inspection highlighted physical security flaws. Ombudsman RI reported that a detention block lacked standard barbed-wire perimeter fencing, and an open roadway led directly into the holding area without security gates.
