New Orleans fall festival season brings cooler temperatures and a packed calendar of cultural events running from September through December across the city’s distinct neighborhoods. According to NewOrleans.com, the autumn months mark a sharp rise in local energy and a drop in humidity, drawing both residents and visitors out for neighborhood celebrations, food festivals, and holiday traditions.
October Festivals and Neighborhood Events
The fall lineup kicks off with multiple events spanning music, food, and film throughout October. NOLAXNOLA runs from September 24 to October 4, followed closely by the National Fried Chicken Festival from October 2 to October 4. Food and music lovers can also attend the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival and Gentilly Fest, both scheduled for October 9 through October 11.
Oktoberfest holds events across three weekends on October 9-10, 16-17, and 23-24. Additional October highlights include Praise Fest on October 16, NOLA Funk Fest from October 16 to October 18, the New Orleans Film Festival from October 22 to October 27, the Tremé Fall Festival on October 24, and the Freret Street Festival on October 31.
November Cultural Celebrations
November shifts focus toward community traditions and neighborhood gatherings starting with the Día de los Muertos Festival on November 1. Beignet Fest and Bayou Bacchanal both take place on November 7, while the Oak Street Po-Boy Festival follows on November 8.
The middle of the month features the WellNXT Wellness Festival from November 13 to November 14 and LUNA Fete from November 13 to November 15. Sober Fest rounds out the month on November 21 before the holiday season officially begins with the opening of Celebration in the Oaks on November 27.

December events center on winter celebrations and light displays across the city. The Greenway Supernova takes place from December 10 to December 12, and NOLA ChristmasFest opens its doors on December 23.
