Czech banks offer savings rates above 4 percent in September 2026

As Czech households manage economic conditions in September 2026, several banks are offering interest rates above 4% p.a. on savings products, though securing these top yields often requires meeting specific activity conditions or limits. The Czech National Bank board kept interest rates unchanged at its August meeting, leaving the two-week repo rate at 3.75%, the discount rate at 2.75%, and the lombard rate at 4.75%, with the next decision scheduled for September 17.

Among market offerings, some financial institutions provide rates exceeding 4% without requiring complex investment conditions, while others tie their maximum yields to regular investing or specific account usage.

Top Savings Account Offers and Conditions

For clients seeking high yields without mandatory investing, Trinity Bank offers its Birthday Great Account with 4.08% pa up to 500,000 CZK and 3.30% pa above that limit, conditional on a new account and new deposit. Meanwhile, mBank provides an mSpořicí účet pro děti with a 5.01% rate for deposits up to 50,000 Kč for clients under 18. For general savers, mBank features its mSpořicí účet Plus offering 4.21% p.a. for the first three months up to 250,000 Kč automatically, after which monthly inflows of at least 15,000 Kč to an mKonto and at least 5 card payments are required.

Other institutions combining rates around 4% or higher with activity conditions include Artesa savings cooperative, which lists its Artesa UNIVERSAL savings account with a 4.5% p.a. rate without a deposit limit, though it requires cooperative membership and a member deposit equal to 10% of the saved amount alongside a 1,000 Kč basic membership fee. ČSOB offers the Duo Profit account combining saving with investment, while Banka Creditas and UniCredit Bank structure their top yields around specific investment and card payment thresholds.

Key Factors When Choosing a Savings Account

When selecting a savings account, experts advise examining several critical parameters beyond just the headline rate:

  • The maximum deposit limit to which the highest interest rate applies.
  • The interest rate applied to funds exceeding the promotional limit.
  • Mandatory activity conditions, such as minimum card payments, regular monthly inflows, or linked investment products.
  • Whether the offer is restricted exclusively to new clients or new deposits.

Bank deposits in the Czech Republic are statutorily insured up to 100,000 EUR per depositor per bank, and gross interest earnings are subject to a 15% withholding tax automatically deducted by the bank upon crediting.
