Wilfred Le Bouthillier and his group Les Gars du Nord are bringing their nostalgic kitchen-party style to Montreal’s Théâtre St-Denis, marking a major milestone after more than a decade of touring across Quebec and New Brunswick. The seven-member band features original songs written by Danny Boudreau and arranged to musical compositions by Le Bouthillier.
Bringing the Kitchen Party to Montreal
For more than ten years, Les Gars du Nord have built a dedicated following through regional tours. Now, the ensemble is stepping onto the stage at Théâtre St-Denis in Montreal. Le Bouthillier describes the show as a massive kitchen party designed to transport audiences across different eras. The performance relies on an artistic concept that plays with time, blending past and present elements to grant the group total creative freedom. According to Le Bouthillier, audiences often do not know what to expect from the group, calling them a totally new unit.
Origins of Les Gars du Nord
The group initially formed when four friends joined forces to organize a single holiday-themed show. Because of the event’s title, local audiences assumed the performers had officially established a permanent band. The members decided to lean into public perception, allowing fans to believe what they wanted about the group’s formation. Since that early collaboration in 2012, the lineup has maintained its distinct musical signature.
Current Tour Schedule and Future Plans
Following their Montreal appearance, the group will stop in Quebec City on Sunday before continuing their “Les Années Tranquilles” tour. Along the way, band members frequently travel in their famous “Nord mobile,” a tour vehicle known on social media for mechanical breakdowns. Le Bouthillier jokes that they regularly have to call tow trucks to haul the trailer onto the highway while passing motorists honk and wave.
Looking ahead, Les Gars du Nord plan to release their fifth studio album in 2028. Le Bouthillier notes that the release schedule is already locked in because the band has pre-sold their upcoming concert tour for next September, leaving them no choice but to deliver the new record on time.
