Charlotte Joan Archer passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at the age of 81, with her husband of nearly 63 years, Ken Archer, by her side. Born on October 6, 1945, in Fairview, Ohio, she was the daughter of Samuel and Phylis Lumadue. Marked by a dedication to her family, handcrafted quilts, and an active life that included camping and traveling to Myrtle Beach.
Nearly 63 Years of Marriage and a Large Family
Charlotte Archer’s life centered on her marriage to Ken Archer, whom she wed on October 26, 1963. Together, the couple raised five children: Kenneth Archer, along with wife Melissa; Donald Archer, along with wife Christina; Dennis Archer; and Michelle Archer Buckhannon.
Her extended family grew to include nine grandchildren—Trent Archer (Skylar), Tyler Archer (Christina), Thomas, Ashley Jennings, James Morrison (Bri), Cody Buckhannon (Candy), Corey Archer, Dillon Buckhannon, and Briauna—as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Phylis Lumadue, and her sister, Janet Daley. She is also survived by her brothers Malcolm, Larry, and David Lumadue, and sisters Sue Kenska and Linda Young. Beyond her human family, she maintained a lifelong fondness for animals, including her late dog Cisco and her companion Poncho.

Away from family gatherings, Charlotte Archer spent her time crafting handmade quilts for her relatives, treating each blanket as a tangible expression of care. These domestic hobbies defined much of her routine in the decades following her marriage in 1963.
Visitation and Funeral Services Scheduled at Bauer Funeral Home
Visitation for Charlotte Joan Archer is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home, located at 2089 Columbia Road in Valley City, Ohio. The funeral service will take place at the same funeral home on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow immediately afterward at Nesbitt Cemetery in Grafton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
