A couple arrested for selling drugs to abort at home over the Internet

The National Police have arrested a couple, a man and a woman, who allegedly illegally offered medicines to perform “abortions at home” through social networks and Internet advertising portals.

According to the national body, the man came to have 166 prescriptions for the drug which he later sold illegally with the support of his partner.

It was a anonymous communication by email to the address [email protected]which is managed by the Cybercrime Unit of the National Police, which alerted to the existence of an ad offering a medication for abortifacient purposes.

After several efforts, the agents verified that there were hundreds of similar posts both on web portals and on different social networks. In the ads, a profile name was used with the original name of the drug to give more credibility to what was offered.

In addition, telephone numbers and emails were provided to contact them. The active principle of the drug was misoprostolwhich serves for gastric treatment but that among its side effects is that of cause an abortion.
