Villanova eyes Michigan After winning Streak

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova head coach kevin Willard quickly turned his attention to the team’s next challenge after the Wildcats’ 90-63 win over Penn, extending their winning streak to seven games (7-1).

When asked about his assessment of the team’s progress over the last month,Willard responded directly.

“I know what I’m looking at,” Willard said. “I’m looking at Michigan. I don’t think anybody wants to play Michigan right now, to be honest.”

Michigan is 8-0 and off to a strong start to the 2025-26 season. They are winning games by an average of 28 points, including a 101-60 victory over Rutgers in their Big Ten opener. Before Thanksgiving, at the Players Era event in Las Vegas, they defeated San Diego state (94-54), No.21 Auburn (102-72), and No. 12 Gonzaga (101-61) to win the tournament.

“We have a big test Tuesday,” Willard stated. “They are playing the best basketball in the country.”

Villanova leads the series against Michigan 4-2. Moast of their previous six games were played on neutral courts, including three in the NCAA Tournament (1985, 2018, and 2022). Villanova has faced Michigan three times during their runs to the NCAA final Four.
