Jumoke Adekoye Secures Second NAIA National Championship for Dickinson State

WICHITA, Kan. – Dickinson State University’s Jumoke Adekoye has clinched her second consecutive NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Championship at 131 pounds, leading the Blue Hawks to a 16th-place team finish at the 2026 NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Championships. The tournament took place March 13–14 at Heartland Credit Union Arena.

Team Performance

Dickinson State accumulated 31.5 team points, securing a 16th-place ranking in the final team standings. Life University dominated the competition, claiming the team championship with 169.0 points, followed by William Penn (158.5) and Grand View (145.5). Dickinson State University Athletics

Adekoye’s Dominant Run

Adekoye’s performance was the highlight of the tournament for the Blue Hawks. She secured her second national title with a series of impressive victories, including four technical falls. In the quarterfinals, Adekoye continued her dominance with a 10-0 technical fall against Alexis Schneider of Bismarck State, advancing her to the semifinal round. She then secured a 6-3 decision over Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence, earning her a spot in the championship match.

Five Dickinson State wrestlers qualified for the national championship event, competing in the 110-, 117-, 124-, and 131-pound weight classes.

• Jazmine Turner (124 pounds): Contributed three team points, winning a consolation match against Isla Baeza of Missouri Valley before being eliminated.
• Myriam Riley (110 pounds): Scored 0.5 team points with a win over Raelynn O’Connor of Hastings in the consolation bracket.
• Jenna Gerhardt (110 pounds): Earned two team points with a decision win over Diana Gonzalez of Life.
• Mikayla Jardine (117 pounds): Competed in her final tournament for Dickinson State.

Program History and Adekoye’s Impact

Jumoke Adekoye, originally from Nigeria, joined the Blue Hawks last fall and has quickly turn into a pivotal figure in the program’s history.
