Auckland Guineas: Gerard Unfazed by Well Written

Trainer Pam Gerard isn’t intimidated by the undefeated filly Well Written, who competes in today’s Auckland Guineas. While acknowledging her impressive record, Gerard admits she’s still gauging Well Written’s true potential.

Gerard’s gelding, Affirmative action, will challenge Well Written in the $270,000 Group 2 race. This event carries added emotional weight, honoring 10-year-old Jimmy Schick, a member of a racing family who tragically died in an ATV accident in May.

The Auckland Guineas will also provide valuable insight into the relative strengths of the 3-year-old colts and fillies. Well Written currently stands as the leading filly, while Affirmative Action could establish himself as the top male, despite a previous defeat by stablemate Romanoff in the 2000 Guineas.

well Written is the favorite for the 1400m race, a key stepping stone towards the Karaka Millions.
