Air Rifle Record Score Propels No. 12 Jax State Over No. 19 UT Martin

JACKSONVILLE – 12th-ranked Jax State achieved a program-record 2383 in air rifle, led by Akos Marta and Frans RasmussonS scores of 599, securing a 4698-4621 victory over the 19th-ranked UT Martin Skyhawks on Friday at the Gamecock Rifle Range.

Jax State improves to 3-2 while UT Martin falls to 0-7 on the year.

Rasmusson recorded the highest aggregate score of the day with an 1186 (587 smallbore, 599 air rifle) and 89 centers, tying his season-high.Maja Pedersen followed with an aggregate of 1170 (579 smallbore,591 air rifle) with 63 centers. Jenny Ek rounded out the top three with an aggregate of 1167 (573 smallbore, 594 air rifle) and 71 centers.

Alex Watts was a top-five performer in smallbore with a score of 576 and 26 centers. Lars Lilleng was eighth with a score of 569 and 25 centers.

Rasmusson and Marta both fired 599 in air rifle, with Rasmusson recording 57 centers and Marta achieving 54. They tied Brandon Muske’s school record of 599 set previously.
