AJ Styles’ Future After Retirement: Hall of Fame and Potential AEW Move
AJ Styles’ recent retirement from professional wrestling has sparked speculation about his future, with both WWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) potentially vying for his involvement. While a WWE Hall of Fame induction appears imminent, reports suggest AEW made a substantial offer to the veteran performer.
WWE Hall of Fame Bound
On the February 23rd episode of Monday Night RAW, AJ Styles received a heartfelt tribute from WWE, culminating in The Undertaker announcing his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The announcement included appearances from former colleagues like Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Frankie Kazarian, and Abyss, signaling WWE’s intent to honor Styles’ three-decade career.
AEW’s Interest and WWE’s Response
Despite his retirement match against Gunther at the Royal Rumble 2026, AJ Styles was reportedly aware of a significant offer from AEW. According to Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Styles knew AEW was prepared to present a deal that would minimize time away from his family.
WWE seemingly preempted a potential move to AEW by swiftly announcing Styles’ Hall of Fame induction, effectively limiting Tony Khan’s opportunity to secure a surprise appearance at the Revolution pay-per-view in March. Even a potential appearance at AEW’s Double or Nothing in May was considered unlikely.
Styles’ Intentions and Future Possibilities
AJ Styles has expressed a desire to spend more time with his family, but hasn’t entirely ruled out a return to the ring under the right circumstances. He has even suggested the possibility of wrestling alongside one of his children if they pursue a career in professional wrestling.
Tommaso Ciampa, an AEW star, acknowledged Styles’ legacy and potential impact on the AEW roster, stating that if Styles were to join AEW, he would “immediately going to be one of the best.”
WWE’s Continued Interest
Paul “Triple H” Levesque has indicated WWE’s desire to retain Styles’ involvement in some capacity, potentially in a behind-the-scenes role.
Speculation regarding Styles’ future will likely persist until he commits to another venture or signs a new contract with WWE.
