Alan Corr highlights the upcoming performance of Dublin producer, singer, and songwriter Chameleon. The artist is scheduled to appear at the Beavertown Soundtrack Stories event at Whelan’s of Dublin on October 7, a gathering that integrates live musical performances with storytelling.
The event features a lineup including DJ Beks, the Soundtrack Stories house band, and the Cork-based band Cardinals. The evening is hosted by Ross McCarney and Meg Reilly. A central component of the night allows audience members to volunteer their own true stories to be told on stage, accompanied by a live soundtrack provided by the band.
Chameleon Draws Inspiration from Bon Iver and Timeless Music
In the profile, Chameleon describes the atmosphere of his music as feeling like a folk singer being abducted by a big white beam of aliens in a cornfield beside a big ranch during the blue hour. He identifies music that feels timeless as a primary inspiration, citing Adrianne Lenker and Bon Iver—the latter being his biggest influence—as key artists.

Regarding his personal tastes, Chameleon notes that “The Cops Are Coming” by Junior Mesa is currently his favorite song, describing its production as “crunchier than a Nature Valley bar” and a fresh update on the Mk.Gee style. His favorite lyric of all time is from his own work, specifically the line “And I’ll believe in God, if he lets you in” from the song “Angeliina.”
Ticket Sales Benefit Music Network
Tickets for the October 7 show are priced at €10 and are available via Eventbrite. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Music Network, which serves as the national music touring and development organisation for Ireland.
Reflecting on his musical beginnings, Chameleon recalls his first concert was Jon Bellion at the Olympia and his first record purchase was a Flo Rida CD featuring the song “Whistle.” While he once aspired to be a “super-cool and awesome beatmaker,” he noted that this was not his destiny.
