Alaska Airlines Restructures Cabins to Target Luxury Travelers
Alaska Airlines is increasing the number of premium seats on jets operating some of its longest and most profitable routes at the expense of lower-priced economy seats, SFGATE reported.
Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Harrison stated that premium seating currently generates 35% of Alaska Air Group’s total revenue, and the carrier aims to push that figure above 40% by 2030, according to SFGATE.
Boeing 737 Max 10 Deliveries and Domestic Lie-Flat Suites
For the first time, Alaska Airlines will install lie-flat seating on single-aisle aircraft.
These upgraded single-aisle jets will fly high-demand transcontinental routes. On widebody Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners operating international routes from Seattle, the airline will brand its 34-seat business class cabin with sliding doors as Aurora Suites, according to SFGATE and The Points Guy.
Alaska Air Group overhauls Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330 fleet
Following its 2024 acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Air Group is overhauling the older Airbus A330 fleet from nose to tail. The forward cabins will introduce 22 lie-flat business-class suites under the name Leihōkū, alongside a 28-seat Premium Reserve cabin, 48 Premium Class seats, and 156 economy seats, according to Alaska Airlines’ corporate announcements.
