Algeria Advances to Round of 16 After 3-1 Victory

Algeria defeated Equatorial Guinea 3-1 this Wednesday in their final group stage match at the 2025 African Cup of Nations. With three wins secured, the Fennecs now have six days to prepare for their round of 16 match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Algeria completed the task. Already qualified for the knockout stage of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, they secured a third consecutive victory in the competition against Equatorial Guinea.

Having previously defeated Sudan (3-0) and Burkina Faso (1-0), Algeria continued their scoring form, netting three goals in Wednesday’s match. “I don’t know if it’s algeria’s best attack since 1990, but we had to take this match seriously even though we were qualified,” said Farès Chaïbi, who scored his team’s second goal. “That’s what we did; we respected the opponent.”

“There is no better than our audience”

In the round of 16, Algeria will face the Democratic Republic of Congo.
