Android and iPhone Users Can Now Share Files Seamlessly with Expanded Quick Share

If you’re an Android user with friends and family using iPhones, sharing media just got easier. Google has expanded its Quick Share feature, bringing broader compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop, allowing for seamless file transfers between Android devices and iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

From Pixel Exclusivity to Wider Availability

Initially launched in November 2025, Quick Share’s AirDrop compatibility was limited to the Pixel 10 series. The feature is now rolling out to the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google plans to expand this functionality to more Android devices, including those from partners like Samsung and Nothing, throughout 2026 .

How Quick Share Works with AirDrop

This expansion simplifies sharing high-resolution files between users of different operating systems. Google emphasizes that Quick Share is “engineered with multi-layered security at its foundation.” Currently, the feature is available on eight Pixel devices across the 9 and 10 series. It is not yet available on the Pixel 9A, and Google has not provided a timeline for its inclusion.

Significant Considerations for iPhone Users

To ensure a successful file transfer, iPhone users necessitate to have their AirDrop settings configured to “Everyone” for a period of 10 minutes. This setting allows Android devices using Quick Share to discover and connect with iPhones. Google also confirmed that transfers will be possible to other Apple devices, such as iPads, and MacBooks.

Google is actively collaborating with its partners to extend Quick Share-AirDrop interoperability across the broader Android ecosystem. Further announcements regarding device compatibility are expected soon.
