Aneta Langerová’s Miraculous Landscape Songs at Nová Spirála

It has almost become a tradition for Aneta Langerová to end the concert year just before Christmas in Prague. In recent years, she has frequently enough chosen the Studio DVA theater stage, but this time she decided to change venues. She planned two performances in the reconstructed and reopened Nová Spirála in Holešovice, formerly known as the spirála Theater. and it was definitely a lucky choice.

The architectural solution of this venue creates a unique experience. The space stands out for its circular rotating stage, allowing the audience to view the events from different perspectives. People surround the stage from all sides and sit above it too – on balconies that extend over a total of five floors, connected by spiral ramps. This arrangement easily gives fans the feeling that they have the performers in the palm of their hands and feel more involved in the action than with a customary seating arrangement.

A Walk Through a Twenty-Year-Old Song Landscape

Aneta Langerová filled this space with impressive music. Her current program, Miraculous Landscape Songs, is based on last year’s celebration of twenty years on the scene, when the singer recapitulated her successful career so far on the compilation album of the same name.

She began the two-hour concert accompanied by a band and a string trio.This instrumentation is familiar to her fans, as strings have been a stable part of her musical expression since the Pár míst… tour in 2011. Nevertheless, she enjoys reinterpreting individual songs and presenting them in slightly different arrangements for each new tour. Keyboardist and co-author of many of her songs, Jakub Zitko, was also present.

The singer, originally from Říčany, greeted the audience with the pop-rock song “Dvě slunce” from her 2020 album of the same name.She then gradually revisited her previous work.
