Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod Targeted in Bribery Investigation
Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities are conducting searches targeting Anna Skorokhod, a Member of Parliament representing teh “for the Future” party, following allegations of bribery. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO),in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU),confirmed they have exposed a criminal group led by a people’s deputy.
According to sources at Ukrainian Pravda (UP), Skorokhod and her associates are accused of demanding $250,000 from an entrepreneur. Authorities stated that “priority investigative actions are ongoing” and promised to release further details at a later time.
Background:
Skorokhod’s political career has been marked by controversy. In November 2019, while a member of the Servant of the People party, she accused the authorities of detaining her husband, Alexei Alyakin, in retaliation for her vote against the opening of the land market bill.
This led to accusations of bribery against Skorokhod herself, leveled by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, who also alleged she was lobbying for the interests of “specific oligarchic groups.” Arakhamia initiated proceedings to expel her from the faction. skorokhod responded by claiming other deputies were receiving bribes of $5,000.
She was subsequently excluded from the Servant of the people faction and joined the “For the Future” parliamentary group, which is associated with Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
Further developments will be reported as they become available.
