AACC Student Charged After Hidden Camera Found in Women’s Bathroom
Arnold, MD – A 20-year-old student at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after a hidden recording device was discovered in a women’s bathroom on the Arnold campus. The incident, first reported by The Capital, has led to the student’s arrest and banishment from all AACC properties.
Discovery and Investigation
On February 12, a faculty member found a hidden camera in a single-stall bathroom located in the Cade Center for Fine Arts. According to charging documents, the faculty member had not noticed the device earlier in the day but discovered it near the back of the toilet seat during a subsequent visit.
Campus surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspect. Police allege the footage shows the student entering the women’s bathroom with an item taken from a backpack and remaining in the building, appearing to monitor events on a cellphone before leaving after the device was found. Eye on Annapolis reports.
Charges and Evidence
The recording device contained videos from February 11 and 12, including footage of seven women undressing and using the bathroom, as well as a video of the camera being set up. The student allegedly admitted to placing the device and viewing a live video stream on a phone.
The student is charged with eight counts each of Peeping Tom, visual surveillance with prurient intent, and visual surveillance of a person’s private areas, totaling 24 misdemeanor charges. If convicted on all counts, the student could face over 16 years in prison. Eye on Annapolis
Current Status
The student is currently being held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis. AACC has barred the student from all college properties. Capital Gazette reports that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities reviewing the student’s activity on campus prior to February 12, including a previous instance of the student entering another women’s bathroom in the same building.
